What's New, California? SAN JOSE CALENDAR MAP

All glories to Sri Sri Guru and Gauranga!

Please accept our humble dandavats.

On the 30th, the last Friday of September, 2005, nine disciples of Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj were assembling at the Berkeley apartment of Para Devi Dasi, as she attended to last preparations, prasadam, and garlands. They arranged additional flowers which Madhavendra Dasa had just brought for the altar. Since Premamrita Dasa and Yogeswara Krishna Dasa had brought extra 'Kirttan Guides' and karatals, Anupama Devi Dasi began leading the bhajans. The room filled with anticipation, joy, and excitement!

Meanwhile, on the road, Vaidehi Devi Dasi had been driving through several sets of heavy traffic to transport Sripad Bhakti Lalita Akinchan Maharaj and Sripad Bhakti Chandan Parvat Maharaj up from Soquel. After making it in good time, she arrived to surprise us with two speakers instead of one! During the wonderful kirtan Vaidehi Devi Dasi switched with Madhavananda Dasa on playing the mrdanga.

Sripad Akinchan Maharaj deeply inspired us as he spoke of the spontaneously attended programs in Eastern Europe and China. Then Sripad Parvat Maharaj shared some of the sweet lilas of his earliest attraction to Krishna Consciousness.
We were all gleaming with delight, as Madhavendra Dasa tried to capture posed and impromptu group shots with his nondigital camera. Concluding the lectures Sripad Akinchan Maharaj expressed his appreciation that this program had come together so well and that the enlivening experience would certainly become a regularly scheduled event. Para Devi Dasi immediately announced she would have the program at 6:30 p.m. on the last Friday of every month at 2244 1/2 Russell St., Berkeley, California.

In the jubilant atmosphere, many warm unpretentious remarks darted across the ample space in her living room while prasadam was served out in the kitchen to be offered to the impressively well-integrated gathering. Para Devi Dasi had prepared Gauranga potatoes, a four-vegetable subji, and rice, as well as mango-lassi and raspberry lemonade drinks. Krishna Sevika Didi delighted us with her oatmeal raisin cookies and a coconut creme cake she had baked and brought from Sacramento. After some of the group had left, the remaining devotees sang the prayer to Lord Nrisimhadev at the request of Para Devi Dasi's 4 yr-old daughter, our avid mascot, Radhadasi!

Braja Mohini Devi Dasi initially suggested that we have our Berkeley programs and has continued to provided us with her experienced advice and support.
