What's New, California? SAN JOSE CALENDAR MAP  

Another of the ongoing California nama-sangha programs, held October 9 in Foster City, California (near San Francisco International Airport).

Prominent members of our devotional community, the very auspicious Poddar family (Rajesh, Mita, Rasani and Shivani) sponsored these talks from their very large hearts. Aptly named "Happiness of the Soul ~ The Heartís Inner Satisfaction" by Srimati Mita Poddar, it was held at a lavish clubhouse in their apartment complex that is 70% Indian.

We were graced by the holy association of Sripad Bhakti Chandan Parvat Maharaj and Sripad Bhakti Lalita Akinchan Maharaj, who led kirtan and spoke for nearly an hour each for these fortunate Foster City residents.

Another important note about our friends, the Poddars - Mita's parents and sisters live in Dum Dum Park, Kolkata, just a short walk from Sree Chaitanya Saraswata Krishnanushilana Sangha.


The Poddars arranged a dozen excellent preparations, elaborate and tasty.


Inside or out, the clubhouse provided elegant seating for all.


The occasion also celebrated the fifth birthday of one of our best San Jose kitchen helpers and delights, Rasani Poddar.


Sripad BC Parvat Maharaj explained clearly that the subject of our worship must be beyond the prison of material existence, rather than merely appealing to the jail warden to kindly "give some nice curtain so that we don't see the bars on our window"!


Jivana Didi, Ananta Rupa Prabhu, Lila Shakti Didi, and Nandarani Didi rendered assistance, although Mita had already organized everything very well.


Young Neelamani Prabhu, always ready to render service wherever it is needed.


Young Vaidehi Didi enabled the program by driving the Soquel party. Both she and Neelamani are testament to the genuine attractiveness of Srila Gurudev's affectionate connection.


Sripad BL Akinchan Maharaj elaborately discussed the nature of consciousness and matter. "All material objects are first conceived by a conscious entity, and only later become manifest in material form. Our real benefit lies in the conscious world."

Hearing and chanting - sincere seekers happily hear our talks and join in. The after-talk questions and answers kept some so eager to gain, they didn't notice that prasad was being served!
